With roughly 21 miles of coastline, it comes as no surprise that Malibu has beautiful beaches, as well as scenic neighborhoods fronting these beaches, such as Paradise Cove, Point Dume and Broad Beach.
These three neighborhoods lie consecutively on the western end of Malibu, just before the border of Ventura County and have an abundance of Malibu beachfront and luxury homes for sale.
Paradise Cove
Paradise Cove is located in the area known as the Ramirez Canyon watershed, comprising about 80 acres of land. Of these, about a third hosts a mobile home park with laundry and sports facilities, while the rest is occupied by a mixture of single-family homes, ranging from 1,600 to 9,000 square feet, small American ranch-style houses and larger homes in both classic and modern Mediterranean styles. Properties are generally priced between $500,000 to $2 million, while the Malibu luxury homes right on the beach or cliffside can cost upward of $12 million (a home located on the bluffs is going for $45 million).
Point Dume
Many of Malibu's actors, producers and musicians own homes on Point Dume, which was once used by Chumash Indians to forage nearby tidepools for fish and shellfish,The area consists mostly of single-family homes, some of which are on the smaller side, while others are quite large and opulent. Point Dume also has its own mobile home park, which is considered by some to be the most prestigious in the country, with some of the mobile homes priced as high as $1.5 million. Malibu single-family homes in the area range from $1.2 million to as high as $15 million.
Most of the homes in Point Dume have stunning views of the ocean or the mountains beyond, or both, which is what makes them highly sought after.
Broad Beach
Many high-end Malibu beachfront homes can be found in this 1.1-mile stretch of coastline, which is one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Malibu, with properties priced between $6 million and $17 million. A handful of celebrities, including Steven Spielberg and Dustin Hoffman, have homes in the area, as well.
Schools
The neighborhoods of Paradise Cove and Point Dume, in particular, are ideal for families because of their proximity to various schools, including Malibu Middle and Malibu High School, Juan Cabrillo Elementary School, Point Dume Marine Science Elementary School, St. Aidan's School and the Malibu Methodist Nursery School.
Area Highlights & Attractions
There are about six beaches in the area - Zuma, Westward, Big Dume State Beach, Point Dume State Beach, El Matador (as well as several other pocket beaches) and Paradise Cove beaches. Of these, Zuma Beach is the most popular, known for its decent surfing conditions, wide stretch of sand, clean waters and plentiful parking.
